This project documents more than 300 historical textile terms, many of which
have fallen out of use, as recorded in cargo lists and ship invoices.
Irregular early modern spelling and centuries of translation across
languages and alphabets produced numerous variants for each term. The
project also covers historical currencies, values, place names, and units
of measurement.
